Backcountry Ethics / Littering:

Littering of any kind is strictly prohibited during the race. You will be disqualified if there is a report of you not respecting this rule. The Forest Service has been extremely supportive and it is imperative that we show them we can hold an event like this and be good stewards of our trails, and the backcountry. Please help us to gain permission to host this unique event again next year and use these wonderful trails in the future by pocketing your gels, bars, baggies, bottles, tubes, etc. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING ON THE GROUND! Pack it in, pack it out! If you must discard something before returning to Carter Park, do so at the aid station. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this very important policy. Ride on!

Backcountry Weather:

This race takes place at altitudes above 10,000 feet and you will enjoy some of the most pristine riding terrain in Colorado. With that said, you can expect to experience a wide spectrum of weather conditions. Be prepared for the worst. At least have extra gear, clothing, and supplies stashed at Carter Park so you can adjust to changing conditions. Sunscreen is recommended.

Carvers Sports will be hosting a group ride of Loop 2. Come ride with local legends as they guide you through arguably the most fun and challenging section of the course.  Call Carvers at 800.568.7010 for more information and to RSVP.

This will be a long day in the saddle, and therefore you must give your body all the love you can by drinking A LOT during the race. You will be at altitude and therefore need more liquids than usual. Pre-race hydration is also critical. Drink plenty of water the day before to hydrate your muscles. A chamois cream or balm of some type is recommended.
