In USAC mountain bike licensing, a racer can choose which category they want to race in that best suites their distance/speed. For the XC discipline, Cat 1 and Cat 2 race about 36 miles; Cat 3 races approximately 24 miles. For novice, we’ve added a one lap Cat 3 non-championship 12 mile race. For the Marathon Discipline all categories race the same distance which is ~ 50 miles. Juniors race an age and skill appropriate distance ~ 7 to 22 miles in the Junior categories. Juniors 15-16 and 17-18 are separated into two different USAC skill levels – either Cat 1,2 or Cat 3.
Awards are given 3 deep in all categories
Marathon Men and Women – $250, 200, 150
XC Men and Women – $200, 150, 100
There are two Aid Stations on course. They will have Hammer gels, Hammer Heed electrolyte drink, water, oranges, bananas, PB&J’s. There are no bottles or hand-ups, you must stop to receive aid. One at the finish line and one halfway through loop at the hourglass junction, near Bison Park. See the handout at registration for driving directions to Bison Park, (or google it) it’s a 10 minute drive from here. It’s a good place to give hand-ups and cheer the racers; as they pass by this intersection twice on their lap.
For rider safety and awareness on such a tight course, we respectfully ask that no earpieces be worn during the race.
All racers get calf marked at check-in.
