Camping/ Lodging:
We are organizing racer camping this year and will have more details as we get closer to race day. There is good camping north of Breckenridge on Tiger Road along the North Fork of the Swan River. Contact the Forest Service at 970.468.5400 for info on Forest Service Campgrounds. Beaver Run Resort and Great Western Lodging are our lodging partners. Beaver Run has single night hotel room. With a 2 night minimum stay, Great Western Lodging offers Riverbend studio condos from $99/night, and Trails End one bedroom condos from $115/nt. Call 888.333.4535 and mention the Breck 100 race special.
Backcountry Ethics / Littering:
Littering of any kind is strictly prohibited during the race. You
will be disqualified if there is a report of you not respecting this
rule. The Forest Service has been extremely supportive and it is imperative
that we show them we can hold an event like this and be good stewards
of our trails, and the backcountry. Please help us to gain permission
to host this unique event again next year and use these wonderful
trails in the future by pocketing your gels, bars, baggies, bottles,
tubes, etc. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING ON THE GROUND! Pack it in, pack
it out! If you absolutely must discard something before returning
to Carter Park, do so with a course marshal. Thank you in advance
for your cooperation with this very important policy. Ride on!
Backcountry Weather:
This race takes place at altitudes above 10,000 feet and you will
enjoy some of the most pristine riding terrain in Colorado. With that
said, you can expect to experience a wide spectrum of weather conditions.
Be prepared for the worst. At least have extra gear, clothing, and
supplies stashed at Carter Park so you can adjust to changing conditions.
Obviously sun-screen is mandatory. SPF 30+ is recommended.
Race Preparation / Hydration:
This will be a long day in the saddle, and therefore you must give
your body all the love you can by drinking a lot during the race.
You will be at altitude and therefore need more liquids than usual.
Pre-race hydration is also important. Drink plenty of water the day
before to hydrate your muscles. A chamois cream or balm of some type
is recommended.
Course marking:
We have done our best to mark the course so you can follow it. Orange
and black arrows, and orange flagging tape will guide you. However, you may
need to use common sense and some navigation skills of your own. The basic
rule of thumb is do not turn unless instructed to do so. Follow the tracks
of those in front of you. Each rider will receive a map and course directions
in their race packet to take with them on course. Refer to this when you need
to. Familiarize yourself with the course and have a good sense of where you’re
going before race day.
Course Description:
Loop Maps:
As we make final adjustments to the course layout to avoid wet sections and get the distance dialed in to 68 miles, the course directions may have some minor changes made to them. Please stay tuned to this event page as we make updates. The course should be close to final by June 29th, but we reserve the right to make last minute changes.

Volunteering:
A rewarding opportunity is also available to those non-racers who
are interested in joining our volunteer race crew. You will assist
with registration, timing and scoring, aid stations, marshalling and
more. Race course marshals are needed to help direct racers along
course during the race. It is approximately 5 hours of time,
and each volunteer will receive a crew t-shirt, lunch, and great satisfaction
in knowing they are helping raise money for the TAME foundation and
the Summit County hippotherapy program which uses horses as riding
therapy for children with disabilities. A race like this relies heavily
on volunteer support and your contribution is sincerely appreciated. Click
