Cirque de Sol News:

A big thanks to everyone who came out to support one of the latest Mountain States Cup bike races, Cirque de Sol! The event kicked off Saturday July 12th at Sol Vista Golf and Ski Ranch in Granby Colorado. We would like to thank Sol Vista for all of their help and for use of their undisclosed venue.

Saturday started off with one of the fastest downhill race courses in the series. The descent began with an 18 foot road gap that led into a rock garden and through some tight trees. A huge kicker completed the course and sent riders sailing through the finish. Most riders were over shooting the landing, the jump was so big. What a great spectator finish. Thanks to the crew who helped build up the course and for everyones input on the race line.

Top Pro Women finishers were Martha Renn with a time of 4:00.79, first place, Jennifer Whalen with a time of 4:02.91, for second place, and Lisa Mylak 4:10.74 with a third place finish. Top Pro Men finishers were Ryan Sutton, 2:54.08 and Ross Milan, 2:55.49, crushing the 3 minute barrier, and Kain Leonard at the 3 minute mark for third place at 3:00.26.

Sundays race kicked off with a 13-mile all mountain, varied terrain cross country ride. This course had riders wrapped around trees on the descents, and sucking wind and rock on the extremely technical climbs. Most riders did not make it off the mountain unscathed. Pro Men and Expert Men, rode 2 laps. The rest of the field did 1 lap. This was a breakthrough race for Juniors and Beginners in the series, definitely one of the most difficult in distance and terrain for those entry level riders.

Top Pro women finishers were first place Jennifer Smith at 1:22.48, second place, Katherine Zambrana, 1:24.43, and third place Lyn Franklin 1:26.36, all with in minutes of eachother! Top Pro men finishers after 2 laps were first place Brian Smith at 2:21.29, second place, Ariel Lindsley 2:23.10, and just seconds back coming in third Mike West, 2:23.30.

Much appreciation to everyone involved in the mountain biking scene here in Colorado and for all of your support!

Wildflower Rush News:

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Wildflower Rush exciting race weekend June 28th and 29th in Crested Butte Colorado! And thanks to Crested Butte Mountain for all of their help with the racer BBQ, pasta party, feed zone aid, registration and allowing us to race at their beautiful venue.

Saturday started off with a technical upper section of the, downhill race descent. The course continued onto a fast dirt road, a log jump then launched the racers back onto another quick section of single-track. Much pedaling followed sending the riders through the finish along crowds of spectators out in front of the Gothic Building at the base of Crested Butte Mountain. The word was that this course was a "Cross Country Riders Race" Lots of pedaling was involved, the extra physical effort had riders gasping for air at the finish.

Pro Downhill racers Kain Leonard (first place) and Ryan Sutton (second place) broke the 5 minute barrier coming through the finish with a 4:50.34 and 4:51.65! Ross Milan was not far off coming in third with a time of 5:05.12. Pro Women top finishers all breaking the 6 minute barrier were Lisa Myklak 5:40.95, Emily Johnston 5:52.08, and Gina Grether 5:57.02.

Sunday kicked off with a 9-mile mountain circuit winding around and over the ski hill through waist high wildflowers, aspen trees, spectacular views and fun rolling single-track. The Beginners and Juniors completed 1 lap, Sport, Expert, and Pro Women finished 2 laps, and the Expert Men and Pro Men 3 grueling laps!

Pro rider Katherine Zambrana finished her 2 laps first in a time of 2:05.57, with Sandra Bloomer only seconds behind with a time of 2:06.41. Marie-Ange Anderson came in third at 2:07.09. Pro Men top finishers after three laps were Jay Henry 2:31.33, Mitch Moreman 2:35.33, and Ariel Lindsley 2:35.41. Great job guys!

Big thanks to all the riders for coming out and adding to the excitement at the 3rd annual Wildflower Rush!
