Event Highlights:
Welcome to the 5th annual B-68 Marathon Race featuring the second and third loops of its big brother the Breckenridge 100. The course will delight competitors with a unique combination of mountainous terrain gaining approximately 9,000 feet. Two distinct cloverleaf style loops reward solo and team competitors alike.

Our course architect has linked together an amazing network of high alpine singletrack, backcountry trails, roads and double track. For both Solo competitors and Two Person Teams, this course will rekindle your pioneering spirit and remind you of what backcountry mountain biking is all about. You'll cross the Continental Divide and climb 11,000 foot passes while returning to the support and encouragement of staff, friends and teammates who are waiting for you in historic downtown Breckenridge.

Course Description:
Loops 2 and 3. All racers should complete their conquest before Saturday evening at 7:30PM. Racers must pass through the Boreas Pass checkpoint by 4:30 pm to complete loop 3.  Aid stations and medical coverage will support racers during the event. Carter Park will be Event Headquarters, where the clover-leaf style loops converge, and team riders exchange.

Schedule:
Wednesday July 13th
Carvers Sports will be hosting a group ride of Loop 2. Come ride with local legend Sam Brede as he guides you through, arguably, the most fun and challenging section of the course.

You'll have access to a bike wash and maintenance area, secure bike storage, The Fireside Lounge, pool, hot tubs, outdoor BBQ grills, sun deck, wireless Internet and complimentary computer and printer. River Mountain Lodge is just four blocks from the Carter Park Race Site and a stone's throw to the shops and restaurants of Main Street. For $92 you get a comfortable hotel room with one bed, and at $110, the premium hotel room is a great value featuring two queen beds, microwave and refrigerator. 1-4 bedrooms and larger, condo-style suites are also available with discounts on units up to three bedrooms. All rooms are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and we recommend that you book as early as possible to secure your spot. They sell out! Call (800) 525-2258 for reservations and mention The Breckenridge 100 to receive the discounted rate.
Another option is the Holiday Inn Summit County - Frisco located 10 miles north of Breckenridge. Conveniently located off I-70 next to Lake Dillon, they also are offering us a great racer rate of $92 for a king size bed, or $110 for a room with two doubles.  Rooms have 32" flat screen TV's, microwave, and refridgerator.  They have heated pool and jacuzzi.  Call 970.668.5000 or www.holidayinnsummitcounty.com

Camping:
Free camping is available on Tiger Road again, White River National Forest, just east of Highway 9, past the Breckenridge Golf Course about two miles. Loop 2 goes right by it on Tiger Road. There are fantastic spots along the Swan River, or along the North Fork or Middle Fork. Contact the White River National Forest, Dillon Ranger District for more information. As always, no open fires, keep a clean site, respect the forest, etc.

Showers:
Post-race showers are available at Breckenridge Recreation Center on Airport Road. Showers will cost $3. Must show a valid ID and number plate.

Backcountry Ethics / Littering:
Littering of any kind is strictly prohibited during the race. You will be disqualified if there is a report of you not respecting this rule. The Forest Service has been extremely supportive and it is imperative that we show them we can hold an event like this and be good stewards of our trails, and the backcountry. Please help us to gain permission to host this unique event again next year and use these wonderful trails in the future by pocketing your gels, bars, baggies, bottles, tubes, etc. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING ON THE GROUND! Pack it in, pack it out! If you absolutely must discard something before returning to Carter Park, do so with a course marshal. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this very important policy. Ride on!

Backcountry Weather:
This race takes place at altitudes above 10,000 feet and you will enjoy some of the most pristine riding terrain in Colorado. With that said, you can expect to experience a wide spectrum of weather conditions. Be prepared for the worst. At least have extra gear, clothing, and supplies stashed at Carter Park so you can adjust to changing conditions. Obviously sunscreen is mandatory. SPF 30+ is recommended.

Race Preparation / Hydration:
The Crew at Carver Sports loves to ride bikes - the longer the better! Swing by 203 N. Main St. to grab free copies of the race course map, stock up on trail food, and get information about the race or local trails.

In honor of your efforts, Carvers will be extending a 20% discount on parts and service to all Breckenridge 100, B-68, and B-32 competitors. Get those brakes bled and that drivetrain cleaned before hoping in the saddle for 10+ hours!

This will be a long day in the saddle, and therefore you must give your body all the love you can by drinking a lot during the race. You will be at altitude and therefore need more liquids than usual. Pre-race hydration is also important. Drink plenty of water the day before to hydrate your muscles. A chamois cream or balm of some type is recommended.

Course Marking:
The course is marked so you can follow it. Orange and black arrows, and orange flagging tape will guide you.

Tents at Carter Park:
Carter Park will be Race Headquarters during the day. Tents may be set up in Carter Park but must follow these very strict guidelines when weighting down. The fire marshal will be inspecting. LINK to PDF of Tent requirements

Race Crew:
A rewarding opportunity is also available to those non-racers who are interested in joining our volunteer race crew. Racers can receive a discount on their entry fee by those who want to work for you!  Or just be a good samaritan and help support the athletes. You will assist with registration, timing and scoring, aid stations, marshalling and more. Racecourse marshals are needed to help direct racers along course during the race. It is approximately 5 hours of time, and each volunteer will receive a crew t-shirt, lunch, and great satisfaction in knowing they are helping raise money for Mountain Hope Hippotherapy program which uses horses as riding therapy for children with disabilities. A race like the Breckenridge 100 relies heavily on volunteer support and your contribution is sincerely appreciated. Please email us and let us know if you are interested in being part of this unique event.
