Event Highlights:
So why not take the test this summer?

Welcome to Colorado's premier off-road ultra endurance race, the 7th annual Breckenridge 100. Featuring Solo and Three Person Team Competitions, this incredible course climbs 13,719 feet over its 100 miles and will remind you of what pristine backcountry mountain biking is all about.

So start studying, the test is waiting for you on July 16th!  Featuring a sprawling course nestled between 3 ski resorts; participants are treated with a unique combination of beauty and challenge. The distinct cloverleaf loops offer team competitors the opportunity to strategize their efforts and pick which loop each participant will tackle.

Our renowned course architect has linked together an amazing network of backcountry trails, roads, double track and bike paths that will take you beyond your typical boundaries. From start to finish, you will be both pampered and pushed to your limit at the same time. You'll cross the Continental Divide three times, climb 12,000 foot passes over a snow field, and forge high mountain streams while returning to the support and encouragement of staff, friends and teammates who are waiting for you in historic downtown Breckenridge.

Schedule:
Wednesday July 13th

Camping:
Free camping is available on Tiger Road again, White River National Forest, just east of Highway 9, past the Breckenridge Golf Course about two miles. Loop 2 goes right by it on Tiger Road. There are fantastic spots along the Swan River, or along the North Fork or Middle Fork. Contact the White River National Forest, Dillon Ranger District for more information. As always, no open fires keep a clean site, respect the forest, etc.

Showers:
Post-race showers are available at Breckenridge Recreation Center on Airport Road. Showers will cost $3. Must show a valid ID and number plate.

Backcountry Ethics / Littering:

Littering of any kind is strictly prohibited during the race. You will be disqualified if there is a report of you not respecting this rule. The Forest Service has been extremely supportive and it is imperative that we show them we can hold an event like this and be good stewards of our trails, and the backcountry. Please help us to gain permission to host this unique event again next year and use these wonderful trails in the future by pocketing your gels, bars, baggies, bottles, tubes, etc. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING ON THE GROUND! Pack it in, pack it out! If you absolutely must discard something before returning to Carter Park, do so with a course marshal. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this very important policy. Ride on!

Backcountry Weather:
This race takes place at altitudes above 10,000 feet and you will enjoy some of the most pristine riding terrain in Colorado. With that said, you can expect to experience a wide spectrum of weather conditions. Be prepared for the worst. At least have extra gear, clothing, and supplies stashed at Carter Park so you can adjust to changing conditions. Obviously sunscreen is mandatory. SPF 30+ is recommended.

Race Preparation / Hydration:
The Crew at Carver Sports loves to ride bikes - the longer the better! Swing by 203 N. Main St. to grab free copies of the race course map, stock up on trail food, and get information about the race or local trails.

In honor of your efforts, Carvers will be extending a 20% discount on parts and service to all Breckenridge 100, B-68, and B-32 competitors. Get those brakes bled and that drivetrain cleaned before hoping in the saddle for 10+ hours!

This will be a long day in the saddle, and therefore you must give your body all the love you can by drinking A LOT during the race. You will be at altitude and therefore need more liquids than usual. Pre-race hydration is also important. Drink plenty of water the day before to hydrate your muscles. A chamois cream or balm of some type is recommended.

Course Marking:
The course is marked so you can follow it. Orange and black arrows, and orange flagging tape will guide you. However, you may need to use common sense and some navigation skills of your own. The basic rule of thumb is do not turn unless instructed to do so. Follow the tracks of those in front of you. Each rider will receive a map and course directions in their race packet to take with them on course. Refer to this when you need to. Familiarize yourself with the course and have a good sense of where you're going before race day.

Results / Awards:
Men ten deep: $1,000, $800, $600, $500, $400, $300, $200, $150, $125, $100.
Women five deep: $500, $400, $300, $200, $100.
Fastest Times overall, prizes subject to minimum field size being met.

2010 Breckenridge 100 podium

An award ceremony will be held at Carter Park. Riders or a rider representative must be present at the award ceremony to receive their award.

Carter Park/ Aid Station / Team Transition Zone / Medical / Staging Area:
Carter Park will be Race Headquarters during the day. It will be the transition zone for teammates in the team competition. Riders may stage their own supplies there.

Tents in Carter Park:
Tents may be set up in Carter Park but must follow these very strict guidelines when weighting down the tent! The fire marshall will be inspecting. LINK to PDF of Tent requirements

Race Crew:
A rewarding opportunity is also available to those non-racers who are interested in joining our volunteer race crew. Discounts on entry fees are available to racers from those who want to work for you!  Or just be a good samaritan and help support the athletes. You will assist with registration, timing and scoring, aid stations, marshalling and more. Race course marshals are needed to help direct racers along course during the race. It is approximately 5 hours of time, and each volunteer will receive a crew t-shirt, lunch, and great satisfaction in knowing they are helping raise money for Mountain Hope hippotherapy program which uses horses as riding therapy for children with disabilities. A race like the Breckenridge 100 relies heavily on volunteer support and your contribution is sincerely appreciated. Please email us and let us know if you are interested in being part of this unique event.
